Sahil stars in APJ win

Riding high on an all round display from Sahil (31 and 3 for 30),APJ Academy,Kharar,thumped Mohali Cricket Academy by six wickets in the inaugural match of the 2nd Shahid Amar Singh Memorial Under-13 Cricket Tournament held at the MCA ground on Saturday.

APJ Academy elected to bat first after winning the toss. Openers Sahil and Anmol stitched a useful partnership of 30 runs for the first wicket. Sahil’s knock of 31 runs off 35 balls was studded with five well hit boundaries. His partner,Anmol,continued to torment MCA bowlers and completed his half century in style. He hit six boundaries during his breezy knock of 57 runs in 44 deliveries. APJ finished their innings at 152 runs for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs. Harmanbir emerged as the most successful bowler for MCA as he picked up two wickets for 30 runs.

Chasing the target,MCA could score only 146 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 25 overs. A third wicket partnership of 99 runs between Ramandeep and Shubham Gill took them closer to victory but the challenge ended after their dismissal. Ramandeep’s innings of 44 runs off 37 balls was laced with five boundaries while Shubham Gill struck three boundaries in his 51-ball 43.

Sahil hit the deck hard and maintained a good length and line which helped him pick up three wickets for 30 runs. Ashish and Anmol bagged one wicket each for 21 and 29 runs,respectively.
