Alexey Ashurov,a 41-year-old paraglider,who had taken off from Bir near Baijnath,about 80 km from here,has reportedly gone missing. The Russian national had taken off four days ago.
Another Russian paraglider,Victor,registered the missing report with the Baijnath police on Monday.
According to Kangra SSP Atul Fulzele,the police came to know about the missing paraglider only when his colleague reported the matter.
The SSP said messages have been flashed to police stations and teams have been sent to trace the missing pilot.
Giving details about the paraglider,the SSP said Alexey Ashurov is wearing a red-grey jacket,blue jeans and supporting glasses. He is carrying a Sony video recorder and mobile phone (9805807577). Baijnath SDM Kamal Kant Saroch said the administration had received unconfirmed reports that two days ago a paraglider was seen in Nayagram and Dhadi areas of Chamba district.
Dmitri,another Russian paraglider who was untraceable till Sunday,reportedly landed in the hills near the Yol Cantonment late on Sunday evening. Dmitri,who was rescued on Monday,has suffered injuries. He has been admitted in a private hospital in Nagrota Bagwan.
Earlier,two Russian pilots,Mikhail and Dennis,who had flown from Bir,had injured themselves and were admitted to the hospital in Nagrota Bagwan on Sunday evening.
The Special Area Development Authority (SADA),Bir-Billing,issues permits to these free flyers after completing formalities like taking affidavits that these pilots fly at their own risk.
