“Arent you cold?” asked a friend as I was headed out for a run in my shorts and T-shirt at 7 am. Not an unusual question since it was Lohri,I was in Chandigarh and it was foggy and he was wrapped in a blanket muffler and a woollen cap and not wanting to look outside. I had on two T-shirts — a half-sleeved and a full-sleeved one,and those two layers and a bit of a run,got me warm enough to break into a sweat at the Sukhna.

It will now begin to get a wee bit warmer and I urge you to come out and run. Dress in thin layers – two to three are better than one really warm layer of clothing. It is also ideal to feel a little nippy at the start of your run,as 500 m into a jog you are nice and warm and not sweating profusely. In case you feel warm, you can always take off one layer and tie it around your waist. This is the best way to increase your immunity against cold-related issues, get your circulation all pumped up,and get your batteries charged for the day. Additionally — you will get rid of colds, coughs, sinusitis and other bronchial issues over time with this simple treatment that requires a bit of will power to start, and requires your legs to keep you going. I would prescribe you a dosage of four runs a week, each before breakfast. Take it along with a great breath of fresh air and include deep breathing. We cannot be held responsible for any symptoms of ecstasy or addiction to this treatment.

We would also urge you to sign up for the Chandigarh Running And Living 5 km run which is part of the Chandigarh Marathon festivities on Jan 31. Register at http://www.runningandliving.com/chandigarhmarathon and run the cold and your colds away.
