Rabteshwar fashions AKSIPS-41 win
Led by Rabteshwar splendid knock of 52 runs in 48 balls,AKSIPS-41 recorded 41-run win over Stepping Stones School-37 on the third day of the Saupin’s Gold Cup Cricket Tournament during a match played at the Banyan Tree School,Sector 48 in Chandigarh on Monday. Meanwhile in the second match of the day,GNPS-36 thrashed Mount Carmel-47 by 61 runs. Batting first AKSIPS-41 posted a total of 102 runs in 20 overs. Rabteshwar scored 52 runs while Varun chipped in with 20 runs. Rabteshwar’s knock included six fours. In reply,Stepping Stones-37 team were bundled out for paltry 61 runs in 17.5 overs. In the second match,formidable GNPS-36 set a target of 137 runs for the loss of six wickets. Chasing the total,Mount Carmel School-47 were skittled out for 70 runs.
Simranjeet,Himal and Tarini share lead
Simranjeet Kaur,Himal Gusain and Tarini Goyal with two points each were leading at the end of the second round of the Chandigarh Under-19 Boys and Girls Chess Championship at St. Xaviers Senior Secondary. School,Sector 44-C,here today. During the championship a Chandigarh team of four players in each category will be selected for the Nationals to be held at Puri,(Orissa) from September 30 to October 8.

Ishan wins gold in chess
Ishan Chauhan of KV Jakhoo claimed the Under-14 chess title during the KVS Regional Level Sports Meet held at Kendriya Vidyalaya,Sector 31,on August 28 and 29. Paras Goyal of KV Pinjore,meanwhile,bagged the Under-17 chess title and Deepak of KV 1 Ambala secured the gold in the Under-19 category. Meanwhile,KV no 3,Patiala,was adjudged the best team in kho-kho. Hosts KV Sector 31 and KV 3 BRD,Chandigarh,won the second and third spot,respectively. As many as 130 students from various KV of Chandigarh participated in the event.
GMSSS-10 eves emerge fencing champs
Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10,claimed the overall championship in Inter-School Fencing (girls) Competition held on Monday. Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 15,finished runners up,while Sacred Heart School,Sector 26,bagged the third spot. GMSSS-10 won the Foil team,Epee team and Sabre team titles. Kajal of GMSSS-10 claimd the first position in Foil individual,while Nancy,also from the same school,took the Epee individual title. Kajal of GMSSS-15 won the Sabre individual title.
PGTI cship from today
Top professionals like Mukesh Kumar,Himmat Singh Rai,Rahil Gangjee,Ashok Kumar,Gaurav Ghei,Shamim Khan,Digvijay Singh,Gaurav Pratap Singh,Gurki Shergill,Vishal Singh and Kunal Bhasin will be seen in action during the PGTI Players Championship to be held at Chandigarh Golf Club from August 31 to September 3. Sujjan Singh of Chandigarh,who won his first professional event earlier this season,will lead the local challenge along with Harmeet Kahlon,Harendra Gupta,Gurbaaz Mann and Ranjit Singh. In the last edition,local favourite Amandeep Johl had outclassed Ashok Kumar in a playoff.
