UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues will write to Union Minister of Agriculture Sharad Pawar seeking his help for clearing the hindrances in the launch of Modern Terminal Market project in city. General Rodrigues revealed this during a public-hearing session held on Monday.
He added that he had already discussed the matter with Dr G S Kalkat,Chairman,State Farmers Commission to coordinate in the endeavour. Expressing his anguish over the incidents of gambling and other unethical activities in different localities of the union territory,he said that all Sub-Divisional Magistrates have been directed to conduct raids and nab such anti-social elements.
He said police must also perform their duties diligently in checking such anti-social activities in their area of jurisdiction. He also asked the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to depute teams to identify dead trees on roadsides and take steps for their removal,following necessary procedures to prevent any mishap. Municipal Corporation and Estate Office were asked to speed up the drive for clearing encroachments and un-authorized constructions in the city.
