Rice lovers, rejoice. Kohinoor Foods has launched three new varieties of rice Platinum,the authentic traditional basmati rice,Gold,the extra-long Basmati rice and Silver,the new-generation Super Basmati rice. Rice industry in India is still unorganized. At hand in the market,in the name of basmati is non-basmati,priced as high as Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg and broken rice,priced as low as Rs 25 to Rs 30 per kg. To bring in standardization,we took this step of re-organizing the industry, informs Gurnaam Arora,Joint Managing Director,Kohinoor Foods,who was there at Taj today. Started on a small scale from Amritsar,with peoples and governments support,they have been successful in expanding the Kohinoor business to about 60 countries abroad. In the next few years,there will be no shelf in the world which will not have Kohinoor, Arora feels its necessary for people to know the difference between original basmati and non-basmati.
