IT raids premises of Congress ex-MLA Raminder Awla

Reached for comments, Raminder Singh Awla's personal assistant said that the Congress leader wasn’t available.

The Income Tax (IT) department Monday conducted raids at the residential and other premises linked to businessman and Congress’s former MLA Raminder Singh Awla in Ferozepur district.

The IT sleuths reached Awla’s residence in Guru Har Sahai town of Ferozepur at 6 am. The searches continued till late evening. At least 12 other locations related to his businesses were also searched, said sources.

Reached for comments, Awla’s personal assistant said that the Congress leader wasn’t available.

Awla, with business interests in sectors including biomass, solar plants, rice shellers, renewable energy among others, had won 2019 bypoll from Jalalabad constituency of Fazilka district on Congress ticket. In 2022 Assembly elections, Awla had evinced interest in contesting from Guru Har Sahai, but was denied ticket.
