A breach was also reported in the SYL Canal near Ismailpur village,a few kilometres from the Punjab border.
Deputy Commissioner S P Srow, who is camping at the spot with his officials, said the breach had been plugged with the assistance of volunteers and villagers with sand bags prepared by NGOs,Nehru Yuva Kendras and other organisations.
Meanwhile, fields in several villages on the banks of Markanda river were submerged with the water refusing to recede.
The Tangri Nadi canal had developed a breach on Friday near Naggal village but the 30-feet wide breach was plugged by villagers.
Several potholes also appeared on NH-1 and NH-73 as a result of which a car crossing the railway flyover Ambala Cantonment fell from it. The two occupants escaped with minor injuries.
