Punjab’s Gurmeet Singh among 7 killed in terror attack in Kashmir

Gurmeet, 38, is survived by his parents, wife, a daughter, and a son.

Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Punjab’s Gurdaspur, was among the seven employees of an infrastructure company who were killed in an attack by militants on a camp housing workers on Sunday evening in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Gurmeet, 38, is survived by his parents, wife, a daughter, and a son. Gurmeet’s father, Dharam Singh, had also served as an Indian Army soldier. He was a resident of the Sakhowal village in the district.

Gurmeet had been transporting military equipment for several years.

His body will arrive at his village, where his last rites will be performed.

A doctor and five employees of the construction company, which is building the Z-Morh tunnel near Gagangir on the Srinagar-Sonamarg road, were also killed in the attack. It was the first major attack in the Kashmir Valley on construction workers of a large infrastructure project.
