Punjab tops school games; students get a day off

The 56th National School Games today came to a glorious end with hosts Punjab grabbing the overall trophy by winning 12 out of the total 14 gold medals in the various sports disciplines.

The 56th National School Games today came to a glorious end with hosts Punjab grabbing the overall trophy by winning 12 out of the total 14 gold medals in the various sports disciplines.

Punjab’s Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan,who presided over the concluding functions,declared that the schools in the state will remain closed tomorrow to celebrate the ‘performance’ of the school children in the Games.

Delhi took second position overall in the games,he said.

Sekhwan said the Games stand for national integration and inculcate the spirit of competitiveness and togetherness amongst the school children. The state government has sent warm wishes to all the students who participated.
