Gurdas Mann recreates a Mini Punjab in Mumbai
He’s had his Jai Ho moment when Waris Shah was nominated to the Oscars. Gurdas Maan basks in that glory every day,and today,as he recalls the high,he looks on the positive side. Finally, the Punjabi film industry is getting noticed, and we have quite a long list of releases this year, Maans upbeat about the competition and pace. He was in town for his upcoming film,Mini Punjab, along with his producers and actress Jividha Ashta.
Although he didnt seem in the best of moods today,Maan, the patient man he is,announced that everyone must vote. Its precious, and one should use it wisely and properly. Im in fact very pleased with the youngsters for they are the ones whove shown more passion and involvement this time. They have a will and want to be the change which is good, he comments.
Pan to the new girl on the block,Jividha, and youll find out that shes already couple of films old. My first film was Taal in which I played Aishwaryas sister. Then came Dil Ashiquana Hai,couple of South Indian projects and TV, Jividha was spotted by Maan and got herself the role of Simran,a bubbly, full of life medical student in Mini Punjab. Well,my parents are from Punjab, and Im not alien to the language, she defends her Hindi accent. Its versatility that defines an actor, and irrespective of the language, its my work that should count, she says. Well see!
