“Mini Punjab is a film about love,hate,comedy,action and tragedy,” he cooks up a spicy movie masala. In detail,Mini Punjab is a Punjab away from Punjab in Mumbai,and housed in this building are Punjabis who are at constant loggerheads with each other. Family problems,spats with pesky neighbours,bickerings,gossip,petty feuds,dispute and discord,the building is infested with intolerance till Maan’s character,Prem,lands from the real Punjab and acts like a agent of change. “A good one. My character acts like an adhesive by clearing all misunderstandings,and bringing these people together,” Maan couldn’t have chosen a better time to release his film. “I would like to think so….but yes,in times like these,such films can have a positive impact for our message is love,tolerance,peace and brotherhood,” says Maan whose next release is Chak Jawana. But that’s not the centre of discussion here,neither is his album which he will release post his UK tour. “The only thing I can tell you is that I’ve written and composed the songs for my next four films,” he says.

Although he didn’t seem in the best of moods today,Maan,the patient man he is,announced that everyone must vote. “It’s precious,and one should use it wisely and properly. I’m in fact very pleased with the youngsters for they are the ones who’ve shown more passion and involvement this time. They have a will and want to be the change which is good,” he comments.

Pan to the new girl on the block,Jividha,and you’ll find out that she’s already couple of films old. “My first film was Taal in which I played Aishwarya’s sister. Then came Dil Ashiquana Hai,couple of South Indian projects and TV,” Jividha was spotted by Maan and got herself the role of Simran,a bubbly,full of life medical student in Mini Punjab. “Well,my parents are from Punjab,and I’m not alien to the language,” she defends her ‘Hindi’ accent. “It’s versatility that defines an actor,and irrespective of the language,it’s my work that should count,” she says.
