(File Photo)The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to realtor Jarnail Singh Bajwa in connection with FIR No. 237, registered on October 21, 2023, at Kharar (Mohali). However, Bajwa will remain in custody as he is also facing charges of cheating in other cases.
The FIR, lodged under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, pertained to a dispute over a plot sold to the complainant in Mohali.
Bajwa’s counsel, Senior Advocate Bipin Ghai and Nikhil Ghai, argued that the matter had been amicably settled, with the allegedly defrauded amount already paid to the complainant. They added that both parties are in the process of approaching the court to seek quashing of the FIR based on the compromise.

Justice Manjari Nehru Kaul, while granting bail, observed, “As not disputed by learned counsel appearing for complainant, the parties have amicably resolved all their disputes and would be shortly approaching this Court for quashing of FIR in question on the basis of compromise. In the facts and circumstances as enumerated hereinabove, this Court deems it fit to extend the concession of bail to the petitioner.”
