Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) former president Sukhbir Singh Badal has accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government of withdrawing the security cover of former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, attributing the move to a “dangerous and deadly design” against his party’s leadership.
This is the first time that Badal has spoken up for his brother-in-law Majithia after SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder accused him of backstabbing the party’s former president. Bhunder made the statement after Majithia and his associates distanced themselves from the SAD-controlled Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s decision to remove Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh.
Badal linked the alleged security withdrawal to a “massive witch-hunt” launched against Majithia, accusing the government of attempting to falsely implicate him in drug-related cases. “This is despite the fact that their own supremo, Arvind Kejriwal, had to apologise in writing to Majithia for his baseless allegations on the drug issue,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Withdrawal of the entire Z+ security cover of Bikram Singh Majithia confirms beyond doubt the dangerous and deadly designs of the @AamAadmiParty govt against the @Akali_Dal_ leadership.

Badal said the security withdrawal could not be viewed in isolation. “It must be seen alongside the government’s complicity in the failed lethal attempt on my life—an attempt foiled only by the divine intervention of Guru Sahiban,” he said.
Badal also accused the government of “deliberately weakening” the case related to the incident outside the Golden Temple by allowing the accused to secure bail easily. “This further underlines the government’s horrific designs,” he added.
Badal further alleged that senior AAP functionaries were openly issuing “murder threats” to SAD leaders and spokespersons. “The chief minister is maintaining complete silence about these dangerous developments,” the statement read.
Issuing a direct warning to the AAP leadership, Badal said, “If any harm comes to Bikram Singh Majithia or any of our leaders or workers, Bhagwant Mann, Arvind Kejriwal, and their associates will bear personal and direct responsibility.”
