PU senate polls: Final candidate list for arts colleges declared

The final list of valid candidates after scrutiny of nomination papers for the affiliated arts colleges constituency of the Panjab University senate elections was declared on Monday.

One nomination has been cancelled in the heads of affiliated arts colleges category. The nomination papers of Shardev Singh,principal of Maharaja Ranjit Singh College in Malout,Sri Muktsar Sahib,were not found valid after scrutiny and his nomination was cancelled. He was the only nominee from Muktsar for this entire constituency. In the professors,assistant professors and and associate professors category of the same constituency,no nominations have been cancelled.

For the professors,associate professors and assistant professors category,22 nominations have been received by the Registrar for eight seats,and for the heads of affiliated arts colleges category,12 nominations were received for eight seats.

For the principals group,two nominations from Chandigarh are Charanjeet Kaur Sohi,principal of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women,Sector 26,and Puneet Bedi,principal of MCM DAV College for Women,Sector 36-A.

For the staff category,there are 10 nominations from professors of Chandigarh-based colleges,and 12 from colleges outside. Nominations from Chandigarh colleges are Dalip Kumar of PGGCG,Dinesh Talwar of DAV College,Inderpal Singh Sidhu of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College,Jagwant Singh of GGDSD College,Jagdish Chander of DAV College,P S Gill of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College,R P S Josh of PGGCG,Roshan Lal of PGGC,Rakesh Mehta of GGDSD College and T S Brar of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College.
