The much-awaited cut-off list of the city colleges for one of the most sought after undergraduate coursesB Comwas released by the Panjab University this evening. In UT pool,GGDSD College,Sector 32 maintained its top position with a cut-off of 103.4 followed by MCM DAV College,Sector 36 with 96.
Under the same pool,the lowest cut-off score point of 79.4 was witnessed at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women,Sector 26 .
While,under UT Pool,the highest score point from where the rankings started was 111.8,it stopped at 79.4. In General Pool,the highest score point was comparatively higher compared with the UT Pool. The highest starting score point was 112.2 while the cut-offs stopped at 99.6. The ratio of UT and General Pool is 85:15 per cent in all the colleges.
Against 1,991 seats in eleven colleges in Chandigarh under general and various reserved categories,as many as 1,841 were filled. The remaining 150 seats in reserved categories would be subsequently filled in the coming days.
The high cut-off was anticipated going by the number of applications B Com course fetched. As this year,applications more than twice the number of seats in the 26 colleges in Chandigarh,Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur were registered by the online centralised admission cell at Panjab University, said coordinator A K Vashisht.
For around 4,300 seats,around 9,200 applications were received by the University Business School; the centralised office of Panjab University coordinating the admission.
SCORE POINT SYSTEM
Thepplicants Class XII percentage was calculated taking five subjects into account. For CBSE,while the mandatory subject was English,the remaining four were the best scored subjects,irrespective of the stream the student has completed his Class XII. After that,additional score point of 16 were added.
This implied that a maximum of 4 points each were given for four subjects-Accounts,Economics/Maths,Business Studies and Commercial studies in addition to the candidates Class XII percentage.
Thus,students who have studied these subjects had a preference over others with Science or Arts.
