In a bid to ensure peaceful and violence-free elections by checking the entry of outsiders on campus, the Panjab University is all set to conduct a special drive to verify the identity of students at all entry gates and hostels .

During a meeting with the university officials and student leaders, the orders for closure of gate number 1 (opposite PGIMER) at all times, except between 8 am and 9.30 am,will be enforced with immediate effect. The students’ organizations spearheading for the contest of the upcoming council’s election were again advised to use only handmade election material while desisting from the use of any printed election related material.

The use of photostated handmade material shall also be treated equivalent to the printed material.

The printed material found being used or pasted in any form anywhere shall be treated as violation of the Lyngdoh guidelines.

With organisations were also informed that the imposition of the code of conduct came into force with the declaration of the elections, students organizations cannot take out rallies on the campus.

They may,if so desire walk on foot in small groups for canvassing or hold processions/public meetings with the prior written permission of the university authorities provided these processions/public meetings do not,in any manner, disturb the classes and other academic activities.
