Powerful Notes

Stars assembled for the music launch of Punjabi film Sikander (titled Sirsa earlier) on Saturday,at the Chandigarh Press Club,Sector 27. Sikander is the debut Punjabi film of actor Gul Panag who stars opposite Kartar Cheema (of Tere Naal Love Ho Geya and Yaar Anmulle fame). The album has an interesting mix of numbers,from Indian Bhangra and hip hop singer,Labh Janjua to the king of Bhangra music Lehmber Hussainpuri,Bollywood playback singer Kamal Khan to Punjabi singer Masha Ali and Rupinder Handa. With the additional presence of upcoming singers Manjit Sahota and Hardik Trehan,the music gets a different flavour. The music directors of the film are Davvy Singh and Gurmeet Singh. The lyrics are written by Rohit Kaushik,Gaurav Trehan and Manjit Sahota. Poonam Pawar,producer of Sikander says,“The music of the film is such that the audience will immediately connect to it. The film is about contemporary politics in Punjab,about how colleges become the battle ground for polticial parties. So the music had to be strong and powerful.”
