Residents of Sector 4,Mansa Devi Complex, are a harried lot after frequent power fluctuations have damaged a number of electrical appliances.

Frequent complaints to the authorities have fallen on deaf ears, say residents.

The power authorities, however, say that power will be equally distributed soon.

“The problem begun over a month ago. Not only has it harassed residents of the area,it has also damaged costly electrical appliances,” said L D Sharma,a resident. He added that despite several complaints, authorities have not tended to the problem.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Divender Mahajan, president of the Residents’ Welfare Association of the area. He said: “In fact, the actual problem of voltage fluctuation in the sector had started around four years ago when one of two transformers of the area was shifted near the house of a senior IAS officer of Haryana. The aim behind the shifting was to facilitate the running of an illegal tube well constructed by him. Over the years, with the increase in population, the single transformer can no longer take the entire load.”

He added: “A week ago, after several requests,P K Goyal,XEN (Operations),Panchkula, came to the area and admitted there was a problem. They claim to be working on it,but nothing has been done till now.”

P K Goyal, meanwhile, told Newsline: “We did visit the area some time ago; and after assessing the problem,we recently installed a new transformer in the area. The new transformer would start working anytime now. It would completely solve the problem of voltage fluctuation.”
