Deputy leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and BJPs chief national spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday questioned the credibility of Samajawadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on his decision to give outside support to the Manmohan Singh-Led government at Centre, which was crumbling brick by brick.
Mulayam Singh came out and supported the Bharat Bandh (against the FDI in retail and price rise hike on September 20) and also courted arrest. Now,it is question on his credibility if he decides to support the crumbling Congress (led UPA) government at the Centre, Prasad said.
Talking to the reporters in Shimla,Prasad said the UPA government completely lost its credibility, moral authority and trust of the people after withdrawal of support by Trinamool Congress (TMC).
It s also a government of loot working under foreign pressure. It is a paralysed government and its countdown has already begun, Prasad said.
However,he ruled out the possibility of NDA bringing in a no-confidence motion in Parliament asserting that the government was crumbling down brick by brick.
Queried on the possibility of TMC joining the NDA,the senior BJP leader said,This is a decision which she
(party president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) has to take. We have worked together earlier. However,at this juncture we can only appreciate the step she has taken to oppose the FDI in retail sector.
Talking about the damning CAG report on coal block allocation,Prasad said Manmohan Singh-led government has proved to be the most corrupt in the history of the country.
He accused the government of being arrogant and unresponsive to the public sentiments as despite unprecedented support to the Bharat Bandh, the Centre notified FDI in retail sector, which will directly hit the livelihood of more than five crore people.
On possibilities of a Third Front coming up,Prasad said the term was a misnomer. The days of VP Singh,Deve Gowda or Gujaral governments are over. People want a stable government, which can function in the interest of the country and not under the foreign pressure, he added.
He also ruled out the possibility of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extending support to the UPA. His (Kumars) anti-Congress credentials are well known. Why would he back a regime, which reeks of corruption and arrogance and faces an imminent downfall, he asked.
