Campus safety issues leads to student protest at Panjab University (File Photo)The Panjab University has appointed Prof Anil Monga as advisor (campus security) and Tejinder Singh Sandhu, (retd SP), as officer on special duty (campus security). These appointments are part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures in both campuses.
Prof Monga, former chief of university security and former chairperson of PU Police Administration, brings extensive experience in security management and police administration. He has combined academic expertise with practical security strategies.
In his new role, he will advise on enhancing security protocols and strengthening institutional safety measures, leveraging his deep understanding of law enforcement and university security dynamics.
Sandhu retired as SP (Detective), Bathinda, on October 31, 2024, after an illustrious career spanning over three decades in the Punjab Police. Over the years, he has served in key positions such as SHO in multiple police stations, DSP (Security Wing), Punjab, DSP (Vigilance), Mohali, and SP (PBI and Headquarters).
Both the appointees will conduct a comprehensive security audit of the university and implement measures to enhance campus and hostel safety. Prof Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, said, “We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.”
