Panchkula makes HSRP compulsory

After having made it mandatory for residents to install High Security Registration Plates on all kind of vehicles,Panchkula will be the first district in Haryana to initiate the process.

After having made it mandatory for residents to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on all kind of vehicles,Panchkula will be the first district in Haryana to initiate the process. While stating this here on Wednesday,an official spokesman said that as per Supreme Court instructions,the Haryana government has decided to start the project from Panchkula.

He said that the registration plates have been made compulsory for all vehicles to curb the incidents of theft of vehicles and other related criminal activities. The plates,the spokesman added,would be applicable on motorcycles,tractors,scooters,three-wheelers,light motor vehicles as well as commercial vehicles. It would be applicable on new as well as old vehicles.

He further said that every vehicle would be provided a laser code which would be equipped with a self-lock and this would be printed on the registration certificate and number plate.

There will be additional charges for laser code of the high security registration plate. Applicants would have to deposit a fee of Rs 121 for motorcycles and tractors,Rs 140 for scooters,Rs 161 for three-wheeler,Rs 364 for light motor vehicle and Rs 280 for commercial vehicles,including all taxes.
