Pace Riders take away the title

Three-wicket hauls each by Resham (3 for 15) and Rakshat (3 for 9) propelled Pace Riders to a six-wicket win over Rihalz Warriors and to win the First Tricity Premier League (U-13 Cricket Tournament which concluded at Banyan Tree School grounds on Wednesday. It was a day of low scoring in the tournament as both the teams had some trouble in scoring runs.

Rihalz Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first in conditions which looked suitable for batting. But their decision proved to be a wrong one as they were bundled out for a total of 92 runs in 18 overs. Rizul was the top scorer for the team as he played a knock of 22 runs while Arunam played a knock of 14 run. Rizul smashed three boundaries during his 25-ball knock while Arunam struck one boundary his knock. Rest of the Warriors’ batsmen could not stay longer at the crease and failed to play longer innings. For Pace Riders,Resham and Rakshat were the main wicket-takers for the team as they claimed three wickets each for 15 and nine runs respectively.

Chasing an easy target of 93 runs in the allotted 20 overs,Pace Riders reached the target for the loss of four wickets in 18.2 overs. Nipun was the star of the day for the winning team as he played a superb knock of 45 runs. He smashed six boundaries during his 37-ball knock and he was ably supported by Vaibhav who played an unbeaten knock of 22 runs. For the losing side,Amrit claimed two wickets for 14 runs while Honey claimed two wickets for 12 runs. Rakshat of Pace Riders was declared the Man of the Match. Nipun of Pace Riders was declared Man of the Series while Yuvraj Gill of Punjabi Tigers was declared the best batsman of the series. Resham of Pace Riders was declared the best bowler of the tournament while Arslen of Pace Riders was declared the best fielder of the tournament. Arunam of Rihalz warriors was declared the best wicket-keeper of the tournament while Yogesh of Modgill Challnegers was declared the best all-rounder of the tournament.
