With the weather getting cooler,an exhibition that offers snug options is well-timed. Come Tuesday, and the Delhi-based designer label,The Jacket Factory, will make its debut in Chandigarh. Born in 2010,The Jacket Factory was an idea conceptualised by Sumit Mehra,a graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology,New York,to enter the Indian retail market with outerwear clothing.
The Jacket Factory is currently being sold through exhibitions or through sole distributors and select outlets in France,UK,Germany and the US. We spent a considerable amount of time on research on this segment and realised that we wanted to focus on outerwear, since in the Indian market there arent many players, says Mehra. The label, true to its name, offers a range of jackets, overcoats, ponchos, kaftans for men, women and children.
Given that they have back-to-back integration from producing yarn to the final jacket,The Jacket Factory offers a larger variety of European designs, better price points and Italian fits. The parent companies that back the label are market leaders for world class fabrics in outerwear, informs Mehra. The collection thats available in the city as part of a six-day exhibition at Kids Own,Sector 17,includes a stylish collection of handcrafted tweed coats and woollen jackets that are not just smart looking but priced starting Rs 800 onwards.
The exhibition is on till November 27 at Kids Own,SCO 104-105,Sector 17-D,Chandigarh from 10 am to 7 pm.
