Police probing the murder of an Ola cab driver Manoj, who was found dead on Monday, claimed that he had not taken any accommodation on rent and use to sleep in his cab at different locations in the city to save money for the studies of his three sons.
According to police sources, preliminary investigation have found that all the window panes of the car were open when the incident occurred.
“The window panes were open. He might have switched off the air conditioner of the car before sleeping. Somebody might have come there and they got indulged in a brawl which led to the crime,” claimed a police official.

Police have also obtained the CCTV footage of Cheema Hospital and Amrit Sweets in Phase V. But, they are yet to get any vital clues. Only the car could be seen coming from Phase IV towards Phase V.
Assuring to nab the culprits, Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that they are working on some leads and will crack the case soon.
Meanwhile, the family members have denied claims of him having personal enmity with anybody. Manoj’s wife Kamla Devi when contacted said that he didn’t know many people in Mohali as had come to the city six months back.
The victim’s brother-in-law, Jawahar Lal, while speaking to Chandigarh Newsline, said that he asked Manoj a number of times to stay in his Palsora residence but the latter refused the suggestion.
“Whenever I told him to stay at my home, he used to refuse. Then I came to know that he use to sleep in his car to save money. I again insisted him to stay with me. He came for two days and then again left,” said Lal.
