NPS-18 hoopsters shine

The hoopsters of New Public School,Sector 18 bagged hat-trick of gold medals in the Inter School basketball tournament held at Sports Complex,Sector 46.

CHANDIGARH: The hoopsters of New Public School,Sector 18 bagged hat-trick of gold medals in the Inter School basketball tournament held at Sports Complex,Sector 46. They won Under-14,Under-17 and Under-19 boys’ titles. In the Under-14 final,the New Public School boys thrashed Vivek High School,Sector 38 by 43-6 and in the Under-17 final,they prevailed over St Kabir School,Sector 26,by 47-37. Then,in the Under-19 final,they edged past SD Public School,Sector 32,by 48-43,to claim hat-trick of gold medals.

GMSSS-10 fencers make city proud

CHANDIGARH: The fencers of Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10 did Chandigarh proud by claiming the overall third position to bag the bronze medal in the Junior National fencing championship held at Raipur,Chhattisgarh from October 15 to 20. A total of 19 fencers from the school took part in the championship. They won silver in Foil and bronze in Sabre events. The five fencers from Chandigarh who were selected for the India camp are Ravi,Manish Thakur Gunjan Singh,Himani Oli and Baljeet Kaur.

Carrom tourney from November 11

CHANDIGARH: 14th Raj Kumar Babuta Memorial Prize Money Carrom Ranking Tournament from November 11 at St Stephen’s School,Sector 45. The tournament will be played in men’s singles,boys’ singles (Junior),boys singles’ (Sub-junior),women’s singles’,girls singles’ (Junior) and girls singles’ (sub-junior) categories. Players under the age of 18 years as on December 31,2012 are eligible to take part in junior category while players below 14 years as on December 31,2012 will be eligible to take part in sub-junior category. The top three position holders in each event will be given cash prizes while the top eight position holders will earn ranking points for selection in Chandigarh team for upcoming national championships.
