The Punjab University formally launched the facility for online payment of fee today. The facility was demonstrated publicly by the university Vice-Chancellor
R C Sobti as he paid his daughters fee,who is studying at the universitys dental institute.
The PU Dental Institute has become the first of its kind to accept admission fee online. Meanwhile,the facility will be accessible to all the students once they take admission in the beginning of July.
Prof Sobti said,I have lived up to my promise and will further be working on other such facilities which have been demanded by students.
The students will be required to have an e-account which can be made by following the instructions mentioned on the university website.
A student can also get a print of the receipt once the payment has been accepted. The State Bank of India has been asked to help with the process.
The members from the Student Council were also present at the presentation and duly appreciated the entire project.
Expressing his happiness,Brinder Dhillon,SOPU President,said,We are glad that the Vice-Chancellor has acted so promptly and are sure that this will save the students from a lot of trouble.
Free education for children with thalassemia
Coming to the rescue of around 300 thalassemia-affected children,Panjab University (PU) has decided to provide them free education.
Talking to Newsline,PUs Vice-Chancellor Prof R C Sobti said: Panjab University is always ready to help the needy children. We shall be providing these children with all facilities which we can afford and manage.
A committee to work on the modalities to provide a few other facilities to these children will be formed soon,the Vice-Chancellor added. The announcement was made on Wednesday during a presentation on the PUs new online fee payment service.
Although nothing has been finalised as yet,the Vice-Chancellor asked the faculty and university officials to contribute their bit towards helping these children.
The proposal will be discussed in the Senate meeting on Thursday.
