Ranjit Bajaj, booked in a case of attempt to murder, has moved an anticipatory bail application in the district court on Friday. The application was moved in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jindal today and the date of hearing in the case has been fixed on March 5, said Ranjits mother Rupan Deol Bajaj. The Panchkula police had booked Ranjit on January 31 after he allegedly assaulted Gurmohan Singh Bedi son of M M S Bedi,a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court during a brawl at a party in North Park. However, the police have not been able to apprehend him yet. The application states that Ranjit had gone to attend the St Johns Old Boys Association (SJOBA) party at North Park with his friends Heena Singh and Pahul Ahluwalia along with his driver Mahender Singh, who does not posses any weapon. It read,Had Bajaj have the intention of harming him, then under the circumstances he would have fired at him or at least made some overt act to commit murder. But instead, they allowed Gurmohan to escape, which clearly show they had no intention to kill him,at worst the intention to frighten him, hence no offence under Section 307 of the IPC is made out. Also according to the FIR,Gurmohan Singhs feet was run over by Bajajs car but there is no mention of any report to the doctor by Gurmohan regarding any injury to the feet in the medico legal court (MLC). There are other contradictions in the FIR and MLR. It further reads,All the injuries found on the body of Gurmohan Bedi were minor and could have been caused when he fell. Instead of going to the police station,Bedi returned home after taking first aid from the general hospital. Also it was the police who visited his house and recorded his statement in writing. Along with the application, five affidavits three by the SAJOBA members and two by the security guards at North Park¿ have been attached claiming that while there was a simple quarrel between the two after Gurmohan said something to the two girls with Bajaj, and that there was no use of weapon in the case. According to the Panchkula police, they had impounded the car of Ranjit Bajaj which had been used on January 31.
