No responsibility fixed, another probe

The DC acknowledged that no official has been held responsible for the delay in the report.

The report of an inquiry probing non-compliance with a court order, which led to the attachment of the official car of the UT finance secretary, has failed to identify the officials of the estate office responsible for the delay of over eight months.

On November 10, the official car of UT Finance Secretary Sarvjit Singh was attached after the estate office failed to transfer a property in the name of a Sector 9 resident. Subsequently, an inquiry was marked by UT Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajit Balaji Joshi to Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kashish Mittal. According to sources, the report has termed the case “peculiar” as it involved the estate office and approval from the finance departments were also required.

DC not amused

Unhappy with the report, the UT DC has decided to mark another inquiry to fix accountability. The DC acknowledged that the report has been submitted to him, in which no official has been held responsible for the delay. “Non-compliance with a court order is a very serious issue. To ensure that acts are not repeated, there is a need to fix accountability. I will again mark an inquiry,” said Joshi.

Sanjay Majithia, the son of former High Court judge G R Majithia, had filed a case in court on June 26,2010, seeking the mutation of his grandfather’s house in Sector 9 in his name. After the trial, the court ordered the mutation of the property in Sanjay’s name on February 27 this year but the administration failed to comply with the orders, following which Sanjay again approached the court in August this year, seeking attachment of the property of officials of the administration. The estate office finally complied with the order three days after the attachment of the finance secretary’s car.

The administration had initially held public prosecutor Hukam Singh responsible for the delay and put him under suspension on November 17, but was forced to revoked the suspension the very next day due to pressure from district bar association.
