His motivation: Wish to support family
I always wondered why all Nepalis were perceived as chowkidars. From my childhood,I wanted to change this perception and become a successful person, said Ashok Budha. Today,Ashok has done his family and school proud by scoring 81 per cent in Class XII CBSE results. He is a government school student and despite clearing his Class X in Hindi medium,he took the challenge to clear his Class XII examination in English medium. Ashok, son of Hem Prasad Budha, even left his passion for cricket to study. Hem Prasad works as a watchman at the PWD office in Sector 46 and had come to Chandigarh from Nepal with his wife more than 17 years ago. I love cricket but I realise it would not help me financially in supporting my family. I stopped playing cricket in Class XI and focussed on my studies. I want to become a mechanical engineer and my only aim is to support my family, which is entirely dependent on my fathers income. Our five-member family lives in a one-room house on rent, said Ashok. I understand that my parents have been able to educate us after facing many hardships. The movie Three Idiots also inspired me a lot. When I see my friends riding motorbikes or using expensive cricket kit,I strive to achieve more. My friends have also supported me at every step and motivated me, said Ashok.
