Even as Bulbul, the woman who delivered and lost her child at the GMSH-16,was discharged on Saturday, the controversy surrounding the case still rages. A police officer investigating the case said the four doctors on duty that fateful day have not been questioned yet. Meanwhile, the medical card issued to Bulbul that day has also gone missing. The card could have specified if any doctor examined Bulbul, and what treatment was prescribed.
Sonia,an eyewitness, said,Chotelal told me that he had given the card to a doctor in the hospital. Her statement was also recorded by the hospital authorities today.
Medical Superintendent Dr Rajiv Vadera said: On the day of incident,I had asked for the medical card to know who might have examined her. But no one handed it to me; the relatives didnt have the same.
Dr Veena Sarna of the Gynaecology department said: When I went to the labour ward that day, there was no medical card with Bulbul. I did ask for it but no one had it. The inquiry will clear everything.
It may be mentioned here that CCTV footage has clearly shown that a medical card was indeed issued to the victim.
Meanwhile, the hospital authorities have questioned the doctors on duty but dont wish to share the same with media. Sources claim that the major concern is that if doctors examined Bulbul, why did they not immediately provide medical assistance,as during check-up,they would have come to know if the baby was all right or if Bulbul was in a critical condition.
On the other hand, policemen probing the case have seen the CCTV footage twice, but have not questioned the doctors on duty. They are clueless whether the doctors examined Bulbul or not. Meanwhile,Health Secretary Ram Niwas visited the hospital for inspection today and issued instructions to the staff to improve services. He also asked them to report back within seven days with the progress report.
