Former Haryana Power Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and former Haryana chief minister and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala who have been contesting elections against each other from Narwana in the past,today filed their papers from Kaithal and Ellenabad in Sirsa district respectively.

They both filed their papers amidst a show of strength and addressed public meetings later.

In the Assembly elections held in 2004,Surjewala had defeated Chautala by a margin of more than 2,000 votes as there was an anti-Chautala wave from the Narwana Assembly seat. This seat is now reserved for the scheduled caste category,forcing both the leaders to shift their constituency.

Addressing a rally at Ellenabad,Chautala said the people of Haryana wanted a change and it was time they threw the Congress out of power as it had failed to reach their expectations. He also organised a roadshow to ensure his victory and also asked the party workers to campaign on his behalf as he would not find much time for campaigning there.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal,who was also present on this occasion,said they had family relations with Chautalas; he asked the people to vote for the INLD.

Randeep Singh Surjewala while addressing a public gathering at Jawahar Park in Kaithal said he would urge the people to vote for the Congress on the basis of the development works during the last four and a half years.
