Mohali: Modified jeep overturns in Jayanti Ki Rao river’s raging waters, two youths rescued
With the help of a JCB machine, both young men were pulled out safely, narrowly escaping what could have been a fatal accident

A dramatic incident unfolded today during heavy rainfall in Mohali when a modified off-roading jeep was swept away by the fierce current of Jayanti Ki Rao river on Jayanti to Gurda Kasuli road. The jeep overturned three times before getting stuck midstream.
A video of the two young men attempting to drive the jeep across the flooded river has gone viral on social media. In the footage, bystanders can be heard warning them: “The water is too strong, stop right there!” But the youths ignored the pleas and pressed on.
Within moments, the jeep was caught in the torrent, tossed over three times, and the duo were dragged along with it. Fortunately, the jeep got lodged against an obstruction downstream. With the help of a JCB machine, both young men were pulled out safely, narrowly escaping what could have been a fatal accident.
Local residents said that during the monsoon, the river’s current becomes extremely dangerous and often cuts off access to three nearby villages. They demanded that the administration install warning boards along the riverbanks to prevent people from risking their lives in such treacherous conditions.
