Mohali has become the first tehsil in the state to start a facility for online payment of mutation and registration fees.
Deputy commissioner D S Mangat on Thursday officially announced the launch of the facility. Now, people need not carry cash to the tehsil office for payment of property registration. They can pay the fees online.

DC Mangat conducted a surprise visit at the office of Mohali tehsildar to inspect the ongoing works related to land records and revenue. After the visit, the DC announced the launch of the e-registration and said the online payment facility will be beneficial for people, as they do not need to carry cash.
Mangat claimed that with the start of the online payment facility, Mohali has become the first tehsil where people can pay registration fees, computer fees and mutation fees online from home. The payment could also be made through banks. After paying the requisite fee, a person could get his property registered by submitting the required documents, along with the fee receipt. The DC also directed the official concerned and employees to ensure transparency in their work.
Briefing DC Mangat about the works going on in the department, tehsildar Ravinder Bansal said they have earned Rs 288.73 crore as transfer fees for 780 properties.
