MC offices to remain open on weekend for tax collection

To facilitate residents of Mohali district, Municipal Council offices will remain open on Saturday and Sunday for the collection of property tax. The government has extended the rebate period on property tax payments until July 31.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal appealed to the residents of Kharar, Kurali, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Naya Gaon, Banur, Lalru, and Gharuan to clear their outstanding property tax dues by July 31, 2025, and take full advantage of the ongoing rebate.
The DC said that under the special rebate drive, the district has collected ₹12.59 crore in outstanding dues since July 1. She added that this initiative is part of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme launched by the Punjab government, which provides relief on penalties and interest for long-pending or partially paid property taxes.

She stated, “If dues are paid between August 1 and October 31, 2025, a 50% waiver on penalty and interest will be applicable. However, from November 1, 2025, full penalties and interest will be levied on outstanding tax amounts.”
The DC urged all property owners with pending dues to make the most of this opportunity and support the government’s efforts to improve civic infrastructure and services.
