A Mohali court has rejected the anticipatory bail petitions of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rishi Raj Singh, gunman to AIG Gurjot Singh Kaler, and chartered accountant (CA) Sameer Aggarwal in the case of immigration consultant Rajdeep Singh’s alleged suicide.

The petitions, filed on September 12, were dismissed after the court heard arguments from both the prosecution and the defense. The court observed that “prima facie evidence indicates their involvement” and therefore bail could not be granted.

Rishi Raj asserted in his plea, “I was only obeying my officer’s orders. I brought Rajdeep from Sector 80 on instructions. On the way, Rajdeep himself asked to stop at the HDFC Bank. He went to the restroom and shot himself. I, along with the bank staff, broke the door and tried to save him”.
