Forty-eight hours after a senior executive of a leading cellular service provider was shot at in Mohali, the assailants are still at large. The investigations so far have suggested that Sameer Watts was shot by someone in the rear seat of his Hyundai Santro car, while he was in the drivers seat.
According to the medical report,a bullet entered the back of Sameers head and came out through the left eyebrow. The bullets position shows that it was fired from behind and since there were no bullet marks on the cars rear windscreen or even the seat,it is most likely that the assailant fired from inside the car, revealed a senior officer investigating the case.
Though the forensic report is still awaited, investigation officers believe that a .315 bore weapon was used in the crime.
Since Sameer had gone to the spot after receiving a call from a leading private hospital, where his wife and another close relative are employed, the investigators have screened his mobile phone call details.
Accordingly, several callers were questioned at length to find a clue to the mystery shrouding the shootout.
We are working on various theories and exploring the clues gathered till now but anything revealed at this stage could hamper the investigation, said Senior Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh.
Meanwhile,Sameer,in his early 30s,is still struggling for life. He has been put on a ventilator and is in a coma, said Fortis Hospital Director Dr Ashish Banerji.
Sameers pulse rate and blood pressure are level. But the a part of the bullet is lodged inside his brain and there is nothing we can do to treat that, revealed Dr Banerji.
He refused to comment on the chances of Sameers survival even as his condition continues to be critical.
