Mohali: After repeated outages, Aerocity G block residents demand urgent power supply
To highlight the gravity of the issue, the G Block RWA and residents met MLA Kulwant Singh Monday, seeking his urgent intervention

After braving a 14-hour-long power outage on July 12, G Block residents of Aerocity were again hit by an unscheduled electricity cut from 2 pm on June 15, which lasted until 3:30 the next morning.
Despite registering multiple complaints, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) failed to restore the supply, leaving hundreds to suffer in the sweltering summer heat.
“Transformers are regularly tripping and overheating. But due to PSPCL’s manpower shortage, no lineman service is available either during the day or late night. This is putting public lives and safety at risk, especially in peak summer temperature of 47 degrees,” said Kuldip Singh, president of RWA, Block G Aerocity.
To highlight the gravity of the issue, the G Block RWA and residents met MLA Kulwant Singh Monday, seeking his urgent intervention. The MLA assured the delegation of immediate action and coordination with PSPCL to address the issue swiftly.
A high-level meeting was held involving the RWA, MLA, and XEN (Electrical) Shaminder Singh, where multiple steps were discussed and promised for rapid resolution.
During the meeting, the MLA assured that a dedicated system will be developed by Xen PSPCL to handle Aerocity G Block’s persistent power issues, said RWA members.
The delegation warned that if no concrete steps are taken soon, residents will be forced to stage a protest demanding their basic right to uninterrupted electricity.
XEN Shaminder Singh assured the residents that additional staff and linemen will be allocated shortly. “We have already requested for more manpower and are committed to resolving the issue at the earliest,” he said.
