PGI and UT State AIDS Control Society are going to start a mobile blood collection van on Thursday, which is World AIDS Day.
UT health officials said the van which was procured at a cost of Rs 5 crore will visit various parts of the city for blood collection.
The van comprises six beds. We often come across people wanting to organise blood donation camps but they are unable to do so for want of a proper venue.
From now on,venue will not be a problem, said Dr Chander Mohan, director health services,UT. It will be of great utility especially for those blood donors who fail to reach blood banks or blood donation camps due to shortage of time.
Even residents welfare associations can approach the PGI blood bank to send the van to their area for the camp.
