While police are yet to make any breakthrough in tracing the 10-month-old missing infant,Nishant, the mobile phone which was used to make a ransom call for Rs 10 lakhs was made on the same day from Barwala after submitting fake documents. Only two calls were made from the cell number and since then the mobile is switched off.

SHO of Mansa Devi Complex (MDC),Dalip Kumar said,“The prepaid mobile phone of Idea Cellular was taken on October 12 from Barawala. The cell was taken on the name of Yaqoob,a resident of Bihar. However, the documents proved to be fake. The ransom call to Ashu (uncle of the baby) was made half-an-hour after he took the new SIM.”

Police are likely to initiate action against the dealer,Jitendra, for issuing an SIM without checking the documents. “It is a criminal negligence and action will be initiated against the dealer,” said a police officer in Panchkula.

“The family had issued an advertisement in a Hindi daily requesting that if any one had information about the baby they should call them at his uncle’s number. I believe that that caller made the call after reading the advertisement,” said a police officer.
