Minor fire at city school

“There was nobody inside the class when the fire started. It was recess times and the students were downstairs. One of the teachers noticed the smoke near the classroom. We have a fire extinguisher at all the floors. By the time the fire brigade arrived,our teachers had already managed to stop the fire,” said Sister Gracy,the principal of St Anne’s.

The co-ordinator of the school,Mavi informed that the fire gutted some of the notebooks of Class IX students,stored inside the closet.

A medical assistant from Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH),Sector 16,who was called to the school by the fire brigade officials told Newsline that one of the students complained of burning sensation in the eyes due to the fire smoke.
