One held, minor detained for 20-yr-old’s murder

Two days after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in Raghuveer Park area of Haibowal in Ludhiana, police arrested one accused and detained a minor, Friday. Police said that one of the accused used to harass the minor sister of victim’s friend.

The victim and his friend used to stop him which led to the rivalry.

The accused were identified as Dinesh Kumar alias Danish alias Nonu, 22, of Prem Vihar of Jassian, while his aide is a 17 years old.

JCP city Saumya Mishra said that the accused was arrested from near Hussainpur T-point in Laddian and they also recovered the weapon used in the crime and a Royal Enfield Bullet Motorcycle following the information provided by the accused.

Mishra said that Dinesh Kumar used to harass the minor sister of Ashu, who is the friend of the victim Rahul, 20, of Haibowal. Rahul and Ashu had deterred Dinesh Kumar from harassing the girl multiple times. On November 22, Rahul and Ashu went to an eatery in Raghuveer Park to have some snacks. When they were waiting for their orders the accused turned up there on a bike.

Rahul and Ashu warned Dinesh Kumar for harassing the girl, following which the accused stabbed Rahul. When Ashu tried to intervene the accused injured him too.

The entire incident was captured in CCTV cameras installed near the spot. The JCP added that Dinesh Kumar is already facing trial in two cases, including assault and kidnapping.
