The film,Coffee House, promises to be a rich brew of ideas, purposes & new beginnings
The budget may be low,but the purpose is large. For the issue is not you and I,but India. The effort is for a change and the movement is for a better tomorrow. Coffee House, which releases on April 17,is a film that hopes to reach out to the audience with the message that we cannot allow politicians to rule our lives, divide us and in the process, fragment our country. We worked really hard against all odds so that this film could be released before the elections. The road was tough, but we had a will and we urge every Indian to watch the film before they vote, Gurbir Singh Grewal, the writer and director of the film, rues about the nexus between politicians, bureaucrats, corporates and how its dividing and killing India. As for choosing Coffee House as the setting for the film,Grewal says that its a place thats a meeting point of people from various backgrounds and where personal, professional, social, political issues are discussed and solutions thought of. In Europe, most revolutions started from the coffee house and this film depicts the youth, unemployed, retired and senior citizens and how ideas take practical shape and its a new beginning. Various incidents make the characters realize that they all share one common bond, that of being an Indian, Grewal promises that the film will prompt the audience to search for answers in their own lives. Grewal asserts how politicians need to be checked and how the energy of youth and the experience of senior citizens can achieve a united India, which is for the people and by the people.
