MC proposes policy to install paver blocks

After being rebuked from various quarters for installing paver blocks at several places in the city,the Municipal Corporation has now proposed a policy for the same.

After being rebuked from various quarters for installing paver blocks at several places in the city,the Municipal Corporation (MC) has now proposed a policy for the same. It will come up for discussion during the House Meet on Monday.

According to the proposed policy,pavers will be installed on V-4,V-5 and V-6 roads that have a width of at least 11 feet. The harmful affects of installation of paver blocks have also been listed out in the agenda prepared for the meeting. The officials have stated that installation of paver blocks could lead to problems like water drainage.

The issue has been often debated in the House. It has time and again been pointed out by some councillors that a uniform policy should be formulated in this regard.

During every meeting of the House as well as Finance and Contract Committee,agenda items pertaining to laying of paver blocks worth crores are passed. Recently,on a petition filed by two children,the court has asked the issue to be investigated by a commissioner.

Another agenda to be taken up at the Monday meeting pertains to the construction of a swimming pool in the city. The schedule of posts will also come up for discussion.
