Man gets 2-year RI for theft

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Preeti Sahni,on Friday awarded Mangat Ram,a resident of Mauli Jagran,Chandigarh,two-years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for theft. Shankar Kumar,an auto rickshaw driver and a resident of Darua village,Chandigarh registered a FIR under relevant Sections of the IPC. On March 3 he left his residence around 10 am for some work. When he returned an hour later he found the door of his house broken. On entering the house he found the accused with two suitcases. The police was informed and investigations revealed that the accused was involved in other theft cases also. The accused was awarded two-years RI and Rs 1,000 fine under Section 454 of the IPC. He was also awarded three-months RI and Rs 500 fine.
