Man works for 34 years on fake SC certificate, NCSC takes note after complaint
One Sarbjeet Singh, father of Punjabi singer Amrit Maan, made a fake SC certificate to get a government job of a math teacher reserved for the SC category in 1989.

Taking note of a news wherein a man was accused of getting a government job in Punjab education department by making a false Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), on the orders of its chairman Vijay Sampla, issued a notice to Punjab government and asked it to submit an action taken report within 15 days.
One Sarbjeet Singh, father of Punjabi singer Amrit Maan, made a fake SC certificate to get a government job of a math teacher reserved for the SC category in 1989. The state government had sanctioned as many as 252 teaching posts across Punjab of which 25% seats were reserved for SC candidates, said NCSC chairman.
The incident came to light after retired Punjab officer Avtar Singh Sahota has submitted a complaint to CM Bhagwant Mann alleging that Sarbjeet got the job on a fake SC certificate and worked for over 34 years.
Following the complaint, the NCSC asked the principal secretary (department of school education) and principal secretary (department of social, justice and empowerment and minorities) of Punjab government to investigate the matter and submit an action taken report by June 21 via post or email, based on the facts and information on the action taken on the allegation/matter.
Sampla cautioned the officers that if action taken report is not received within the stipulated time, then the commission might exercise the powers of the civil court conferred on it under article 338 and issue a summon for personal appearance before the commission in Delhi.
