Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta said that on June 5, 2025, a minor girl residing in Panchkula with her family lodged a complaint at the Women Police Station, alleging that a youth from her neighbourhood had sexually assaulted her. Based on her statement, a case under Section 6 of the POCSO Act was registered.
Taking action in the matter, the Women Police Station team launched a continuous search for the accused. To evade arrest, the suspect kept changing his location frequently for nearly four months and a half . However, the investigation officer, ASI Sudesh, along with the police team, traced him to Uttar Pradesh, where he was arrested on October 25. The following day, the accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
Emphasising the police’s zero tolerance toward crimes against women and children, DCP Gupta said, “The safety of women is our top priority. Any form of leniency in such cases will not be tolerated. Ensuring swift justice to victims and bringing the accused to face the law is our foremost duty, and the Panchkula police remain fully committed to this.”
