Four BKI operatives held for petrol bomb attacks on Shiv Sena leaders
The Babbar Khalsa International operatives carried out the attacks in October and last week.

The Ludhiana police Tuesday claimed to have busted a module of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a banned pro-Khalistan organisation, with the arrest of four of its Punjab-based operatives who had targeted leaders of the Shiv Sena (Hind) and Shiv Sena (Bharatvanshi) with petrol bombs the district.
On November 2, bike-borne men had targeted the house of Shiv Sena (Hind)’s Harkirat Singh Khurana in Model Town Extension of Ludhiana with a petrol bomb. Prior to that, on October 16, a petrol bomb was hurled at the residence of Shiv Sena (Bharatvanshi) leader Yogesh Bakshi in Chander Nagar of the district.
Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that foreign-based operatives of BKI — identified as Harjit Singh alias Laddi and Sabi, both from Nawanshahr district— were the masterminds behind the incidents. “Harjit is also wanted in the murder case of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar and carries a reward of Rs 10 lakh,” said Chahal.
The four arrested accused have been identified as Ravinderpal Singh alias Ravi of Diwania Rahon, Anil Kumar alias Honey of Mohalla Sarafa Rahon, Manish Sahid alias Sanju of Diwania — all from Nawanshahr — and Jaswinder Singh alias Binder of Boothgarh, Ludhiana. Barring Jaswinder, all others are school dropouts, said the police.
They said Ravinder and Anil face two previous FIRs each undr NDPS Act for alleged drug peddling. While Ravinder was released from Goindwal Sahib jail in September this year, Anil came out of the Ludhiana jail in August.
Chahal said Ravinderpal, Anil Kumar, and Jaswinder used a motorcycle to commit the crime in Chander Nagar on October 16. On November 2, Ravinder Pal, Anil, and Lovepreet used the same motorcycle to hurl the petrol bomb at Khurana’s house.
According to the commissioner, the motive behind these incidents was to spoil the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab. The accused chose to target Bakshi and Khurana as both of them are very vocal against terrorism.
Chahal said the motorcycle along with two mobile phones have been recovered from the accused.
The police have registered two FIRs in this regard at the Model Town and Haibowal police stations of the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate under sections 125, 285, 324, and 113 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Another accused identified as Lovepreet alias Monu, a resident of Gunachaur in Nawanshahr, is yet to be arrested, they added.
The operation was led by the teams of the Ludhiana police in coordination with the Counter Intelligence Wing, under the supervision of Shubham Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation), Amandeep Singh Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Simratpal Singh Dhindsa, Additional Inspector General of Police (Counter Intelligence).
