The decapitated body of a man was found stuffed inside in a gunny bag in Adarsh Nagar on Chandigarh road of Ludhiana, Thursday. Police said that the body’s head was also found inside the bag.
Local residents told the police that they raised the alarm after noticing a gunny bag lying in the middle of the street. A foul smell was emanating from the bag. After a local resident check the bag, they found a body stuffed inside, and informed the police immediately.
Locals said that the bag wasn’t there on the road on Wednesday night. Later, the news about the body having been found spread in the area, triggering panic and concerns among locals.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (east) Gurdev Singh stated that the body was found in a decomposing, which suggested that the man may have been murdered a few days ago. “The accused dumped the body on the road on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The police are scanning the CCTVs installed in the colony to trace the accused who dumped the body there. The police are also scanning all missing complaints to identify the victim,” he said.
An FIR for murder was registered against unidentified persons at division number 7 police station.
