Local lad Paramjeet Singh stormed into the finals of the 48 Kg category with a straight points win over Yoginder of Haryana on the second day of the 17th Senior Men and Fourth Senior Women Boxing Championship being held at SD Public School,Sector 32 on Tuesday. Dominating the bout right from the start,Singh did not give Yoginder many chances in the bout and booked his berth in the 48 Kg category.
In another semi-final encounter in the 51 Kg category,it was Sunil of Haryana who emerged as triumphant with a points win over local lad Mukesh. Playing an attacking game,Sunil always looked in good touch and ended the challenge of Mukesh easily to advance into the final of the 51 Kg category.
In the other semi-final bout in the same category, Sunil Kumar of Punjab made his way into the final with a win over Kushal Kumar of Himachal Pradesh in an exciting bout. It was easy going for Devinder of Haryana as he ended the challenge of Anil Kumar of Chandigarh with a knock-out win to advance into the final of the 54 Kg category.
In the other semi-final in the same category,Deepak Bains of Punjab ended the challenge of Sahil of Jammu and Kashmir. In the 57 Kg category,Inderjeet of Chandigarh advanced into the finals with a win over Sandeep of Jammu and Kashmir while in the other semi-final,Bajrang of Haryana ended the challenge of Gagandeep Kumar of Punjab with a straight points win.
In the 60 Kg category,local lad Karambir advanced into the finals with a win over Rohit Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir while in the other semi-final bout,Amarjeet of Haryana ended the challenge of Neeraj Goyal of Himachal Pradesh.
In the 64 kg category,Vikas Dahiya of Chandigarh scored a straight points win over Kamal Shashi of Jammu and Kashmir to storm into the final while in the other semi-final encounter,Satguru Singh of Punjab drubbed Tek Chand of Himachal Pradesh to storm into the finals.
In the women’s category,Parita of Haryana stormed into the semi-final stage with a win over neha Choudhary while Sunita of Himachal Pradesh also moved into the semis with a win over Mafia of Punjab. In the 60 Kg category,Chandra Pati of Chandigarh scored a win over Suman Devi of Jammu and Kashmir to move into semis while Pooja of Haryana also booked a place in semis with a win over Neetu of HP.
