The policies offered by the Left are the only solution to the deep-rooted problems of India, and Sangharsh Sandesh Jatha will propagate the message of policy change throughout India, said Brinda Karat, senior CPM politburo member, while addressing mediapersons on Wednesday. Karat stated that the Left would provide alternatives to the basic policies of both the Congress and BJP.
The four Sangharsh Sandesh Jathas will travel 10,000 km across the country and will reach Delhi on March 19. All CPM politburos and seven central committee members have taken a lead in the campaign. This sort of a large endeavour has never been organised in the nation by the communist party, Karat said.
She slammed the Congress and BJP for its pro-corporate and anti-poor policies. In the Indian political scenario, the Congress and BJP have failed to address the problems of the nation. Their pro-corporate attitude is reflected in the budget, where the ruling party has waived off more than Rs 5.73 lakh crore as tax revenues by giving tax concessions to corporates. This waived off amount is more than the fiscal deficit, she added.
Rejecting the present growth model of the government, she said,The growth which the ruling government is boasting of is a job-lost and job-less growth. Neither the finance ministers policies, nor the budget supports generation of jobs. Government should use reserves to expand the public sector. It should create employment and should give the purchasing power to the general public.
She also said that the main purpose of the Sangharsh Sandesh Jathas was to appeal to the citizens to support the Left, and with it we could present a credible platform of alternative policies.
While travelling through the villages of Punjab,I came across a new issue of indebtedness because of medical expenditure. Majority of people are fighting various forms of cancer. A research is very important to know the cause of the increasing number of cancer patients in the region. For this, both central and state governments should come forward to solve the problem, Karat said.
